There's even one from an earlier season that has to do with Buddhist monks.

I thought it was pretty well done too! (What a nice surprise!) Yeah, Ron Moore standing up and yelling "You Suck" at his onstage doppleganger definitely was the high point of the episode... and yup... that was Grace Park (Boomer/Sharon/#8) standfing there in the background.
The other moment I loved was the bartender. He made the exact point that I always feel gets left out of shows that parody Trek and fandom in general... WTG guys! You did good by us!

Just finished watching it on NBC, I think they did an excellent job portraying sci-fi fans in general. As for throwing out every catch phrase in the book, actual fans do that all the time, and a lot of the time actual fans are more obnoxious about it.

Late to the game here....
I didn't see the entire episode, but I did see the clip where that show runner introduces the newer, darker, grittier version of Astro Quest to a horrifically stunned audience. Among the crowd was the lovely Grace Park who played Sharon "Boomer/Athena" Valerii on the new Battlestar Galactica....and none other than BSG showrunner Ronald D. Moore himself....the guy who shouts "You suck!" This scene was indeed a sort of parody of the feelings that some original series Galactica fans harbored when Ron Moore reinvented and reimagined Galactica into its current incarnation. Ron Moore and David Eick (producer) were the targets of much scorn and criticism (to put it mildly) by those old show fans who were revulsed by their take on Galactica. So I found it amusing to see Ronald D. Moore standing on the fictional AQ old show fan soapbox with those words. That scene was just too perfect. ![]()

Sounds like a great episode all in - just wish Grissom was still part of the gang.
It's weird (and I digress here) but part of the reason I always loved CSI was that I felt the cast had that TNG vibe to them. Like - Grissom was Picard, Catherine was Beverly, and so on and so forth. Kinda silly but I just felt that 'crew' had the same family feel. It's not quite the same now so many have left it. Anyway, I would have loved to see that episode with the 'original' CSI cast.
