Default Star Trek & Stargate SG1

When I read some of the arguments about the new Trek movie, I often think of these Stargate SG1 scenes of a Hollywood producer trying to re-imagine SG1 and re-orientate it for the youth market. I found all of these very funny:

This one is a little different:

There was a better one than that, from the same show, but I haven't found it on youtube... where they basically did "Stargate: 90210"... let's hope that's NOT the fate of the new movie!

A lot of TV shows fall into easy formats that we recognize. Look at "House" as a good example: Someone gets sick, and house spends time with his team systematically eliminating what it could be. It's never the first thing they think. Things keep getting worse for the patient, until House has what I call "the lightbulb moment" and suddenly the mystery is solved. Wash, rinse, repeat next week.

I always thought the Furlings were ewoks! Actually I was hoping they'd bring them into the show at some point for real. Well, there's Universe.

Both of them have funny plots, and they are different featured.

That's okay... the Ewoks always reminded me of H. Beam Piper's "Little Fuzzies"...

One guy rips off one science fiction writer, the next filmmaker rips off that filmmaker... and so on and so on...

(I hate to be the one to break it to the folks who think that Lucas and Roddenberry were Gods... but none of their stuff was what you could call original... they just did a difinative version of their sub genre.

Lucas ripped off: Kurasawa, Lensman, Asimov, Leigh Brackett...

Roddenberry ripped off: Space Patrol, A.E. Van Vogt, Forbidden Planet, Legion of Space, Asimov....)

Aside from just Sci-Fi, every form of entertainment "borrows" from another idea.
