Talking Zachary Quinto: The Shaved Eyebrows (video)

Spock 2.0, Zachary Quinto, stopped by the offices of InStyle magazine to do a Click2Play video, posted at YouTube. Zach talks about mixing high and low fashion, and his Vulcanized brow...

Zachary Quinto: The Man ... The Razored Eyebrows!

"Everybody wants to see the brows! I rarely leave my house now without glasses and a hat on, it's true. Until April," says Quinto, who apologizes to fans for his feeling the need to cover up whenever he's in public. "I'm sorry, I'm starring in a huge multi-million dollar movie and I had to shave my eyebrows for it. There are certain people who sort of have a visceral connection to my eyebrows ... they're a big part of the character I'm going to play, and they're a big part of me."

i must admit..i've never heard Quinto's voice before. i dont watch Heroes. but after watching the video i sure hope he uses a different sounding voice while he portrays spock. ive always though he was a great choice for new spock do to his resemblance to Nimoy. but that voice is just annoying...or at least it would be while hes in the character of spock!

does he use a different voice while playing his role on Heroes?

Yeah, that's pretty well....not Spocklike, for want of a less judgmental term.

I tried to find a video of him speaking on Heroes...it's fairly hard to do because they all seem to have loud, angsty musical tracks obscuring everything, however, this one is interesting. He doesn't come in until 2 minutes in, but since George Takei is in the first 2 minutes, it's sort of okay.

He doesn't speak a lot in the video, but I found his laugh to be very reminiscent of Nimoy's. I know...laughing isn't likely to come up much but it's something....

This one has much more speech. It's not nearly as, um... "fashion boy?" as he is in the interview, but I guess that's to be expected...it's sort of manly sounding, but a bit breathy...hopefully he has something else in his repetoire.

I think someone was looking for this "so notorious" video in another thread...

Considering that Nimoy is in the film as well, I'm sure they'll be working together to make Quinto's voice sound believable as Spock. I think he'll be fine. It's worth pointing out though that while he has a good resemblance to Nimoy, he doesn't look EXACTLY like Nimoy did in the 1960s and we shouldn't expect the voice to be a perfect duplicate either. Since people's voices do change as they get older, within the context of the movie itself, I doubt it'd be too hard believe that these actors are playing the same character at different stages of his life.

Wow...that's the first picture I've seen with his eyebrows shaved! His eyebrows were so thick previously.

I think he will pull it off. Hopefully his voice will change for the film, and I agree that with Nimoy being there than it is quite possible. He does look very vulcan in that picture.

I agree. Heck, Urban is Australian and I'm not at all worried about him doing a Southern Drawl...I'm sure Quinto will do fine. He does seem a bit slim of shoulder but hopefully they can pad him up a bit. Spock as Q-tip doesn't work for me at all.

Nimoy's were smaller...now he knows what Leonard went thru, but this is "chic" for Zach...no wonder how many stares Leonard received as he walked down the street in the 60's...

/BOW to NIMOY
/BOW to QUINTO

May the Great Bird of the Galaxy Bless Your Planet!
