Default Thanks for removing the political threads.

Seriously. Thanks to the Mods for that. This forum is too nice a place to mess up with all that AM radio talk show blither. (I know I'm kinda pushing it with my "no gays on Trek" threads, but I think those are at least relevant to the franchise, and where it should be going in the future.)

For the most part, I think this is perhaps one of the best run Trek forums on the web!

Tomcat: Peace, brother, you are of the body. LOL

I agree - and I'm also quite impressed with how civil the 'no gays in Trek' thread has remained for so many pages!
Blither! Good word.

I have to say I like it better the other forum I troll around on. I like that this forum allows us to dicuss other shows and movies with out hassle. The other one Im on wont let you talk about any other thing besides that author and his works.

Not that it matters, but if ST Redshirt is a girl I've got to do a paradigm shift.

Trust me, I'm on several other forums that are NOT Trek related. All the ones which allow political talk turn into nasty, nasty, NASTY places to visit. If anyone really wants to wade into the cesspool of American political blowhardness, you can just Google "Political forum" and get several hundred hits...

I agree. Politics is a deeply personal thing. I was in a chat room and someone asked me who I was gonna vote for and I told them I don't discuss it, because it is personal to me. They still pushed and I told the dude, I don't talk politics, it keeps things happier. So thanks Mods!

that's kind of funny, because by definition it's the exact opposite

That's funny. Literally you are correct, but you know what BeetleScott was saying. I'm actually quite the opposite. I LOVE political debate, discussion, and even argument!! I'm a sucker for it. I try to keep things civil, but sometimes my attempts fail. I really like this forum. I wish they had a political section. I know this is a Trek forum, but it's nice to have real world discussions within a group we already belong to you. I mean, we are all Trek fans in one way or another. It's interesting to see other fan's opinions. I've really learned that what attracted me to Trek isn't what attracts everyone to Trek, This is important because I figured the majority of Trek fans would have similar political views.

It's a tough thing to talk about, especially with American politics because it does so easily degenerate into belligerence. Every attempt it seems we've had at political discussion on this forum has been closed down and then not allowed by the rules for good reason. It's tough to keep it civil, it always comes down to sound bytes and stereotypes and ridiculously reducing the situation to the most simplified black and white, right and wrong, 2 dimensional playing field you can imagine when the reality of any political environment is more like 3 dimensional chess!
