Default Can anyone comment on the soundtrack who's seen it?

Opps I should say..who's seen the movie AND heard the score lol

Would love to know anyones thoughts on the score, was the original theme present or did they create a new one thru out the movie? Can you compare it to any of the classics? Is it goldsmith like? Horner'ish? Of course Michael's got his own style but would be interested to know how the final one came out!

thx

I do hope they put at least a little of the original theme in there. Even if it's just a few bars. I was mad with Transformers that they didn't have even a tiny hint of the Transformers song (if they did I missed it).

Its definitely not a deal breaker for me, I do only hope they have a good theme going whatever it is and its used to different motif's well. My biggest complaint about recent sound tracks is they just lack identifiable themes or motif's and just break down to generic action music. Composers like Williams and Goldmith/horner always knew how to resurrect different themes for the good guys, the bad guys and such using it very effectively to heighten the movie. There's nothing more I hate than just have a composer phone in a score with generic crap that does nothing to add to the feel of the film. So Im lookin forward to hearing the Trek score going forward!

If you watch Part 3 of the Austin premiere video linked... somewhere here... you'll see that the end credits music lists the Alexander Courage TREK theme at the top, so it must appear somewhere in the film.

They said they included the original theme in a "fitting" scene some days ago.

I was expecting the original theme. I wonder if there would be any hint of the Goldsmith TMP theme...
