Read the linked reviews carefully and you'll find viewers have a few reasons to say TREK may not be a perfect film, which is only understandable. Nothing harshly critical, but comments along the lines of "this could have been better" or "more of this character would be preferable", etc. Some are negative points for the reviewers, others are just preference observations.

Being a 2 hour movie and all the ground to cover, I fully expected some brush over with some story points, the resounding echo I am reading is excellent! A must see. thats impressive. Also read a few Trek virgin reviews that were extremely hyped up. Its all falling into place. Studios that are weary about the movie they have made just don't do early releases like this....period.

No film can be expected to be perfect in every detail. So far, the majority of negatives haven't really been anything substantial and in some cases it's stuff that one might expect of a film with so many expectations resting on it.

The general trend is positive (much more positive than the last couple films) so that's all one can ask for!

saw it last night, loved it!!!!!! can't wait to see it again from a better distance (the screen in the opera house was huge and and i was only 4 rows back)

not to give too much away but i think the writers were pretty clever in their approach

I went to the world premier at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday evening too. I went with my husband and a friend. I took a few pics of some of the cast walking the red carpet and we he had brilliant seats for the movie viewing - first row in the back circle, smack bang in the centre of the row, so the middle of the screen (which was massive) was at eye level.
I had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I'd give it 4 ½ stars out of 5.

I can't stand Titanic.

Any other films he reviews as bad? And good?

LOL!

Maybe we share similar tastes.

I'm glad the movie got a standing ovation. Never saw that for a Trek movie.
