I think Jack Black might be too wild to stay 'on the screen' with the rest of the cast -- my big complaint about KING KONG was that Jack never really became Carl Denning, which is quite important to the story. I wonder if Jack would have similar problems stepping into another established character like Harry Mudd for the same reasons. Nevertheless, it sure would be interesting to see him try -- I refuse to say he couldn't do it, just not sure there's evidence yet that he can.

Seth Rogan might be approaching the same territory in his career, but he does have a quality of insecure 'everyman' to many of his characters which could serve Harry Mudd well, beneath all that bluster, bravado... and that moustache.

Britney Spears would be great as Rand if she could control her southern accent. She certainly has the look. I think Maggie Grace could pull off Chapel.


Though I also think Charlize Theron would be marvelous. She doesn't have to play gorgeous, indeed, she's won awards for movies in which she played "very plain".

Oded Fehr would be amazing as Khan.

That would totally work....though, isn't he a bit on the small side? Mudd, to me, is a physically imposing character. He's always the biggest one in the room. He dominates his space.
