I believe that the mods (acting on the orders of JJ???) are conspiring to conceal the mounting evidence that Shat is in the new Trek so that the hype and surprise will be huger. They want the hype to reach Beatles-like proportions when Shat appears in the movie so that they can maximize profits. I understand completely (rly!) and I hope it works and that this film does awesome!

The fact that a sequel has been announced makes me even more sure he isn't in it. And quite frankly i'm glad. it would feel stupid and forced.

Seriously. If he was in the movie, surely he would've been seen, photographed or something. There's no way they could keep something like that under wraps & I don't think they'd want too.

My question is simple, If he is in it then how? How, b/c even if you negate the effects of Generations the odds are he'd still be dead by the time Spock travels back in time. The only thing I can think of is that Future Spock needing to prove to young Kirk that he is from the future mind melds with him and in the process we maybe see some flashbacks. Perhaps in these possible flashbacks they would prefer to go with new footage and not go generic with a recap of old scenes. Still even that doesn't seem likely so again I ask how and as Matty said "WHAT EVIDENCE"?

Oh I dunno. At the end of the flick, set say, 70 years in the future of when this movie takes place, having a retirement party for Admiral Kirk. They go over some of the high points in his career, including this romulan incursion, but none of it is behind a desk. Made fleet admiral, etc. Wanting him to say a few words, they'll have the camera at his back and then the shat will turn around, go to the podium and answer a few questions, reliving "many incredible adventures", perhaps allowing for something to set up the sequel, but that would also take out a ton of steam, because you "know" he's going to be okay.
