We do see the jellyfish slam into the side of a ship, most likely the Narada. We also know the jellyfish was designed to survive extreme pressure. How this is accomplished is not clear. It could be thru better structural design and field reinforcment, possibly thru better shields. Just because we see the jellyfish ram into the side of The Narada, and what appears to be an explosion, doesn't mean the jellyfish is destroyed. It could survive and pop out on the other side of the ship!! Maybe that was the only way to inflict damage on a ship that is so far more advanced than anything else. One more little thing. We CAN'T assume Spock is piloting the jellyfish at that point.

Here's my other theory: What if the jellyfish is slamming into the Narada on order to deliver red matter? The Narada seems indestructable. Without knowing the outcome of Countdown 4, it is possible there is still some red matter carried by the jellyfish. So maybe creating a mini-singularity within the Narada is the only way to destroy it?

I like this one, MrQ, especially the second paragraph, because it intertwines the Red Matter with the story in a different way than was originally intended.

Um I think they will use Khan in the next film. It just makes sense. Khan was Kirk's greatest foe so if Nero is still alive by the end of this film and is looking for a way to defeat Captain Kirk who better? An alternative version of Wrath of Khan/Space Seed will make money at the box office as a concept alone. Not to mention if the movie is good or not. For those of you reading Countdown try to remember that Nero knows Kirk's history. Nero even says in the trailer "James Kirk was a great man but that was another life." Also if we look at this from a studio point of view it's kind of a no-brainer! As if JJ doesn't want to do it.

I hope they really don't regurgitate old Trek stories like this.That can be reserved for novels and such. I would much prefer something original moving forward. But Javier Bardem would make a good Khan I think:

I don't think Khan will ever show up. TWOK is too embedded as the general favourite. JJ hasn't done all this work, to go and rehash that story for his next move.
