I did this in Adobe Illustrator using many side profiles drawings and the Enterprise D blue prints as a guide.

It's Homage,
Michael Okuda would put odd items like ducks in the MSD but it's normally small and out of focus to notice on a normal display.

If the display is on the TV/Movie screen yes, you usualy cannot see the jokes or any of the finer details realy.
But the jokes are clear to see to the naked eye.

It's too bad we didn't have HD back then. I'm sure we could have picked it up on 720p.

1701-D, have you considered doing The New Frontier Version of the Galaxy Class Starship? Both Captain Shelby and Captain Calhoun's ships had a seperable saucer with a 'Warp Sled" that could travel at limited Warp Speeds.

I wasn't even aware of such, having never read the New Frontiers books.

It's a series you wouldn't regret reading. Very exciting.

Well, I know there is a canon Galaxy variant that showed up as the USS Venture that had the additional phaser mounts on the top of the warp nacelles, maybe this is the same revision, who knows. But we never saw the Venture again.

I think we saw the same mods on the USS Challenger in the ST:VOY episode "Timeless".
For the time being, the USS Saturn will not have these mods.
