I am trying to locate the TNG episode in which Picard is put in a box in the sun as some kind of punishment or torture. I can't remember anything else about the episode except that it might involve Ro Laren and the Bajorans. I know there is a DS9 episode where Sisko is in a box, but that's not it. Am I crazy or does this episode exist?

The only episode that comes to mind is Chain of Command, Part II (Season 6) when Picard gets tortured by Cardassians. To my knowledge thats the only one where he gets punished/tortured. Otherwise I'll have to say that episode does not exist.

I dont recall any sun related torture, but you're probably thinking of chain of command. Its the only episode in which picard get tortured and there were lots of bright lights and what not.

Everyone, It wasn't Picard that was put in the box....it was SISCO! He had broken a rule at the farming community He and O'Brian were working at(they were trapped on the planet), the penalty was.....THE BOX!!!! The episode name was Paradise.

And if you're wondering, the only other regular character who was with him on the surface of that planet was Miles O'Brien.

I wonder if the episode you're thinking of isn't Final Mission.

They land on a desert moon and have to trudge through the heat then Picard is injured. It just seems like that might seem like "tortured in a hot box".
