With Birkenstocks, your feet are always air-conditioned and non -sweaty, jtrek! These were my wedding ones (in blue, though):

Couldn't care less, as long as they are comfortable and look all right and fit all right.

At the moment I like sandals, but not those stupid looking thin-strapped ones they usually sell at women's shoe stores.

Actually the kind of shoes i want are impossible to find. Which is probably one major reason why shoe shopping is so boring.

Well at work you can't wear sandals, so as alternative I suggest food deo (cremes) which includes the same substances as conventional deos. I use that stuff in summer, it always does the trick even when it's 30°C / 90°F or above (which is probably not unusual for Greece ).

When were you in the Army? Some of the newer boots are wayyyy better and more comfortable AND offer better water protection and breathability. Check out the link to the brand I wear in my earlier post. They have a running shoe type sole!!!

I wear boots most of the time. I was issued a pair of Bellville tan hot weather boots when I was in Iraq. They were lightyears better than any other "military" boot I had ever worn. When I got my current job I decided to buy the black version of the same boot, so I ordered them online. Danner's (brand) seem to be very similar, but more expensive.

Check 'em out:

I was issued the 790's, now I own the 700's. Both come in a steeltoe. I'm ordering those next. Great damn boot and worth every penny.

When I am NOT working I wear Doc Marten's. I've had the same pair for 5 years!!

When it comes to athletic shoes... I ALWAYS buy Nike.
I just wear the good ol' tried and true black leather combat boot.
