I like sprinkles.

The movie is set in space and on planets. Such unoriginal ideas by JJ and co.

Good post, food for thought!

The very first magazine from Entertainment Weekly stated that the writers of the movie gave, Balance of Terror, The Wrath of Khan, Yesterdays Enterprise, and the book, Best Destiny, as references.

I was thinking the same thing. No matter what new stories are written in Trek, they will always be sort of like other stories from the past. Time travel is NOT anything new, but I don't get tired of it as long the story surrounding it are original.

I think ANY time travel story is going to involve traveling into the past in order to affect the present or future. Maybe traveling into the future in order to gain some sort of advantage in the present is another common plot. The plot to this movie does seem to resemble "Year of Hell", in that the main "bad guy" is motivated not only by his want to restore his people's place in the galaxy, but also to restore the life of a loved one. If you think about it, what else, other than loved ones, could drive a person over the edge...to the point where they don't care about anything else?

There may be a little "Of Gods And Men" in there too. Tiem travel, altering the past, killing Kirk before he's born, destroying Vulcan. I think they borrowed from all over the Star Trek map for this movie.

So we'll be getting another Galactica reboot you're sayin'?

As long as Kirk isn't the harbinger of death and Spock isn't a cylon, we should be OK.
