Parents need to look at ratings AND WHAT THE MOVIE IS RATED FOR, then decide to take a child or not. Chances are if it is PG-13, then a child shouldn't be seeing it anyways.
One could only WISH they'd adhere to the industry standard that is the MPAA.
I am reminded of my less than enjoyable night of watching Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem. (And it wasn't the movie that was bad, it was the movie goers. One talking on her cell phone, and bringing her crying baby into the theater. And a group of kids playing on the front floor while the movie played.)
