Default Re: The Shot Of Kirk Looking At Ship Being Built

There is nothing in the shot showing Kirk riding up to the ship being constructed to indicate that its the Enterprise under construction.

It could just as well be any other ship of the same series being built.

I suspect that the Enterprise is already built and in orbit and we won't see the ship that is being constructed go into space at all.

That is a good theory...I think most people are led to believe it is the Enterprise because in the first teaser we see the Enterprise underconstruction.

Other than the fact that it looks exactly like what they have shown as the Enterprise. It could be another Constitution Class ship.

The thing I noticed is the cheesy security around such a site. A barbed wire fence with a plywood sign that says "Authorized Personnel Only".

Yes. In the first teaser we could see the name of the ship which they would not have put on until she was completed.

I understand your theory, but I'm thinking that Kirk is looking at the Enterprise in the preview. Could be wrong, but I'm thinking it's the big E.

I've wondered about that myself. I chalked it up to there being more to this movie than is meeting our eyes. It's funny to me how people conject and assume so many plot points based on so little information. I suspect we're in store for a lot of surprises with this film. I trust J.J. and co. are smart enough to do that and savy enough to not ruin everything by giving away too much before film's release. Oh for the intelligent, exciting, nuanced, spectacular and thought-provoking Trek film! How many more days?

In "Tomorrow is Yesterday", Kirk states that there are 12 like her (Constitution Class Starships) in the fleet. I don't find it so hard to believe that we wouldn't see another one, or at least one under construction. in the movie.

Why would Kirk ride out to see an as yet unnamed ship? And if he knew it was the Enterprise there is no guarantee (pre-starfleet) that he would ever be assigned to that particular ship, unless of course Pike guaranteed him that.

I believe there's more than one ship being built in Iowa and other locations on the planet.
