Over 1.8 million downloads during first 24 h on Apple.com
It also breaks the weekly download record with over 5 million downloads since exclusive debut on Apple.com/trailers on March 6th "the most popular HD download ever on the site with more than five million downloads in its first five days"

How is this news as an indicator of buzz out there in the general moviegoing audience?
Promising news, I'd say. Trailers don't download themselves, interested people must click the links.

Well the trailer was only available online through Apple, even the ST website files just linked back to Apple for the exclusive, so that should be a good barometer of traffic.
Now that files are available to webmasters and such, the word should spread even wider.
