Agreed! I'm sure the music will be epic even if it isn't this piece, but damn that piece is not just music, its an experience unto itself.

I don't see this music being used in the film, simply because Giacchino has already composed the score for the film BEFORE this trailer was created. Two Steps from Hell composes music for trailers specifically, and to simply take this track and plug it into the film which is edited entirely differently would be troublesome and sound tacked-on if it didn't "cue" with the actual film. This music fits this trailer specifically.

TSFH's music has served Paramount's trailer incredibly well, and I will be thrilled to own this piece of music -- but for licensing reasons and coherence of style with the rest of MG's work for the film, I doubt it can be included in the score. I sure hope TSFH gets a lot more work from these results, they deserve it.

You make a lot of really good points here.

I might have overstated one point, saying this music was created specifically for the new TREK trailer. I don't know that for sure.

But we can safely guess this much: this music wasn't created as score for the TREK film, and Giacchino's work was. Perhaps just a flipside of my earlier point, but likely more correct.

Also, I realize that Two Steps' CDs are not commercially available, which is understandable. But I do hope they release a 'greatest hits' compilation sometime, as they hinted on their blog. This trailer music is one fine piece of work!

No, they are saying they may include the piece of music on one of their future compilation releases of trailer music, even though Paramount has purchased the rights to the song.

Paramount purchased the rights to use the song exclusively so that it cannot be liscensed to be used in another film trailer/marketing campaign for a while forward.

It's an excellent piece of music, but I doubt it will come up in the film's score whatsoever.
