Default Boy Riverside Iowa is going to be ticked!

So I get the impression form the new trailer that Kirk is now born aboard the Kelvin. Not that I get this change as it applies to the alternate time line. Seems to me if Nero meeting the Kelvin is the first intrusion into the time line then why would Kirk's place of birth change? It would imply he was always going to be born on the Kelvin.

I bet Riverside Iowa won't be happy.

I can't recall that it was established that Kirk was physically born in Iowa; he just said he was from Iowa. There are plenty of people who were born in one place and grew up in another, and consider themselves from the latter place.

Or that Kirk's dad saved his pregnant wife, therefore saving Kirk.

I'm pretty sure he was born in Iowa, in a manger, when 3 wise men (Vulcans) came and delivered the gift of Shatnerisms, cockiness, and chick magnet. Of course this is also very speculative.

And now we know the rest of the story!

With utmost respect to the late Paul Harvey

It doesn't matter.... this time all events that took place before Neros incursion are subject to differences.

Exactly...whose to say Nero didn't stumble in on the altered timeline that Scotty may have created by giving away the secret of transparent aluminum....or the alternate timeline created by Marty McFly?

One thing I don't really understand is why would elder Spock give a crap about Nero killing off young kirk. It won't be his kirk. Unless the elder Spock IS the elder Spock of the new timeline and not of our known timeline.

I mean, they kinda established in the episode with Worf that Star Trek is of the mind frame that if one alters the timeline you don't destroy that timeline you just create an alternate universe..therefore it shouldn't matter if anyone goes back in time to alter things, right?

Unless of course theres some kinda of limit on how many alternate timelines there can be before the universe collapses.....

Ah, wait, First Contact threw that out the window too.....unless the wake of the temporal vortex actually transferred the crew of the E to the new Borg established timeline...

But wait.....

Eh, time travel gives me headaches.....

Sorry, to nitpick, but there is a limit already in place to the number of timelines one can have in a single universe... One!

But as for the Multiverse... Since every possible eventuality must occur - there can be no limit to the number of universes!

So...basically it all might have been flipped around?

Instead of the the Enterprise being built in space and Kirk born in Iowa, it's now Kirk was born in space and the Enterprise built in Iowa?*

Those crazy writer dudes...
