No one says Nero will replace Khan, just that he won't fail like the others before him. Like the guy Soran in Gen, Borg queen had no screen time, the torture Shinzon was etc etc etc..................... This film will reign in the top of best sci fi movies ever. Trailer is that good. The Phantom menace has a p!ss poor trailer IMO, it has no comparison to this

The by far best thing in the recent trailer was "James T Kirk was a great man" line. It bodes well for Nero IMHO.

Oddly, I was way hyped for Urban as McCoy, but the line aboue needing a captain seemed forced and odd. I mean a starship full of Lt.'s, and only disciplined? Kirk to take command? It may work fine, it just struck me as corny.

I did love the trailer though.

By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.

Mr. Worf, villains who twirl their mustaches are easy to spot ...

Bana is a good actor and Nero probably the best villain after and Nero and Chang, but I see little Romulan about him (just for the sake of argument, imagine Nero as Klingon). Where is that cold hate and rage? The treacherous stab-you-in-the-back Tal Shiar style?

Anyone else concerned that the Romulans will be messed up like in the previous movie?

Lol Horatio, that makes me think Chang was more Romulan than the Romulans themselves. Besides the man is a miner, Tal Shiar are hardly his type. He is the raging angry Romulan commoner.

I know that Nero is a civilian, but that was a deliberate decision. But if a renegade can fool the Romulan government ... again (Shinzon), then I have to wonder whether the "usual" Romulans will not look pretty weak ... again.

Some fans are obsessed with the size of the nacelles, for me it is the Romulans.

I would imagine they would have to, otherwise the story isn't going to make any sense and such would defeat the spoken purpose of the movie being entertaining for people who may not be Trek fans.

I like Eric Bana. Troy and Blackhawk Down are my favorite roles. I am excited that he is the villain in this movie.

Eric Bana's best work so far is Munich.

In Troy he was just defending his country. Can't count him as a villain there, even though Achilles is considered the "hero" of the movie.

In Munich, same idea.

As far as I know he has never played a clear cut villain before.

I don't know how to explain it, but I kinda "felt" the hate in his voice when he said "FIRE EVERYTHING!"

So I'm confident that he will put everything into the role of Nero.

That leaves a little concern then in my book. I saw Watchmen Friday night with 15 other people I know. All of us thought it was a huge disappointment. If he is giving high praises to that sad mishap of a story, then I'd rather wait to see Trek than to get happy in the pants about his opinion.

On another note, I can’t find the post/topic where someone complained about this romulan exploding with emotion. Personally, if we had to watch Gene Rodenberry allow Saavik to cry during Spock’s funeral, we can welcome this with open arms.
