75% is still a decent score. As long as it doesn't go under 60%, the movie will still be considered as "Fresh".

I'm only reading it now, but to the point of "literature" -- TIME listed WATCHMEN (the comic series later compiled) as one of the top 100 novels of the 20th century. That's saying something, since it was the only such comic-genre entry.
Then again, it's a complex entity... and I don't think it's been in development and considered "unfilmable" for 20 years for no reason, either. I'm curious to see the results Thursday night. As for the change in the ending (as listed in spoiler above), the filmmakers have actually spoken out on that specific change and their reasoning made total sense to me. In effect, the ending in the comic would have no impact in a film adaptation, due to the inherent difference between the two media. But Snyder insists (and those who have seen it often agree) that his ending accomplishes the exact same effect in story terms, but using a different method to achieve it.

My sons want to take me to the midnight show Thursday. I really want to go with them but I'm too ol,,,,,,,,,,, I mean I'm worried that at these midnight shows, they sometimes don't show any previews. I would be bummed if I stayed up late and didn't see the new trailer.

I guess it depends on your local theater owner, Jim -- but agreed, that would suck.
I would suggest calling or visiting the theater in question and asking the manager specifically about opening night previews. In my market, I've never known theaters not to show previews for other films even at midnight showings -- mainly because the other studios/films who lobby for that 'advertising space' don't take kindly to getting ripped off. Lately, I've seen my local theater start the previews a couple minutes early at midnight screenings, so all trailers get shown but without keeping the audience up too late accordingly. Again, such choices are the responsibility of the theater manager, so advanced word from him/her should prevent any surprises for you at midnight. Good luck!

They got it absolutely right, and I got it totally for the first time. I read the Graphic Novel and I just couldn't get it, but now I do. First of all, This film is case in point for why we NEVER EVER EVER want to have super powered people on this planet. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely and the egos of some humans is way too friggin large for their own good, and NONE of us have any business making decisions as big as these people were making in this story! That having been said, this film was NOT about super heroes, or war, or personal judgement. This film was about the power we have in our hands to do right and to do wrong and the incredible consequences of the decisions we make and the mistakes we make. Bottom line, look before you leap, think about what you do, because whatever it is, you have to live with it, and if you make the wrong decisions, the end result can be one serious ba-zitch! I used to think it might be a good idea if we had a bunch of high-powered costumed do-gooders beating the crap out of criminals so that we wouldn't have to worry about them, but after seeing this film, NO THANK YOU SUPERMAN! His caped butt can stay on Krypton where it belongs and we'll take care of our own lunatics thank you very much!

Watchmen was awesome. Not as good as the comic, but still awesome. The trailer was beyond words. I swear I must have looked like a little kid on Christmas. During AND after there was some cheering.

M. Hood and buffs,
Great to hear your positive reports. I'll be seeing the first showing I can today and I'm very excited. This is a movie I've wanted to see for twenty years. Now only three or four hours. Oh my......!!!!!!
