J.J. may be good at the movie makin stuff, so they say at least, I've yet to see it... but I know one thing... his marketing skills and tact are lacking... he should have said...

"We made this movie for everyone, including the original fans, while adding in what we feel the regular 'movie fan' will enjoy."

but noooooo... look what we get.. words pretty much sayin "we need a fan upgrade" so you see folks, it is my view that this movie isn't Star Trek being rebooted.... it's the audience being rebooted.

Just my opinion...

Wean him from Star Wars a bit and show him the wonders of Trek...

I don't think that would be necessary at all. It feels like, to me, that some people are looking to take offense. JJ could've said it a little differently and kept a few more feathers smoothed, but I think that the vast majority of naysayers would take offense at what thypentacle suggested.

There's just no pleasing some people, and I think that's where we are at this point.
