My favorites are:

Best Destiny (Diane Carey)
Final Frontier (Carey [not to be confused with the movie of a similar title)
Federation (Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens)
The Return (William Shatner & the Reeves-Stevens)
Avenger (Shatner & the Reeves-Stevens)
Imzadi (Peter David)

Looking over these titles, they share in common an intense focus on the characters. These authors make them feel alive, like real people.

Most of these books are also Kirk-centered, as he is my favorite character.

I've only read the Shatner novels and most of those are really good. The Return is my favorite. Picard/Kirk duo is so awesome

Engines of Destiny. Saving Kirk from entering the nexus brings the Borg to the entire alpha quadrant. Most intelligent story I ever read!

I recommend Star Trek: Vulcan's Glory, written by D.C. Fontana. She knows Star Trek and I do not read many Star Trek books. She is one of the few writers that I make an exception for.

Homecoming and The Farther Shore are excellent sequals to Voyager's finale. Couldn't put either down.
