But if they wanna point out the differences between the old and new ship, or even the differences between the old timeline (Kelvin) and new timeline (Enterprise), a new bridge might be better.
And 150 million $ is a bit more than the tighter TWOK budget ![]() |

With an inflation rate of 2%-3% the greenback's value circa halved. So that would be a budget of about 20 million $ today and this movie has about 7 times the budget of TWOK.
As some of the folks involved in production have claimed that there will be a lot of scenes on the ship(s), I doubt that they don't have built an extra bridge set for the Kelvin. |

I was thinking the same thing. Just because it says he's on the "set" doesn't mean the camera view we're getting is showing the bridge...it could be showing something off in the distance....

"and now it is confirmed (via our usual trustworthy sources). The image below is indeed JJ Abrams in front of the helm console on the bridge of the USS Kelvin, which is ‘a generation before’ the USS Enterprise with Captain Robau (Faran Tahir) and Kirk’s father (Chris Hemsworth) as officer. Like we have seen from the exterior, the Kelvin carries over a lot of the classic look of Star Trek.

By the newer close up views of the Kelvin it looks like that ship has a main viewwindow like the iEnterprise has...
Something we've not seen in previous designs...

The original E had a window/viewscreen in some shots you can clearly see the window on the model. I mentioned this in another thread quite some time ago and in one episode where the E has been shrunk Kirk leans over and can be seen peering inside checking on his crew. You actually see his face on the viewscreen/window, why would he bother doing that at all if it was just a viewscreen, he would see nothing.
