Default The USS STARGAZER

What do u think starfleet would do with the USS STARGAZER,would they place the ship in the fleet museum or would they give the ship a major overhold giving it a new bridge, shields, weapons etc and recertified it and return it to duty with a new crew?.

We hardly ever saw the Constellation class, so we can assume it just never performed as well as hoped, and got decommissioned.

There were a few Constellations - including the Stargazer - in the early seasons of Next Generation, but they were completely absent later on. Since old designs like the Miranda and Excelsior class played a major role in the Dominion War, we can assume that they were better than the Constellation, despite their age.

I think it would be mothballed, but not in a museum. Maybe at a place like that shipyard site from 'Unification' where old ships got left?

Was there any other ship with four nacelles? I always felt that the Constellation-class was of a more experimental nature, so that's why (besides the obvious real-world reason that she looked ugly) there are perhaps only a few of them.

Doesn't the USS Prometheus in VOY have four nacelles due to it's design? Although it was indeed far less ugly than the Constellation class.

Good point and it indicates that the Constellation might have looked so unflattering because the nacelles sticked out so far. On the other hand she did its job in looking significantly older than the D in the few episodes she appeared.

As we get a ship with one nacelle in the upcoming movie, it is time to abandon the idea of 'two nacelles work best' which I had in mind.
