How come the gouge caused by the Xindi Weapon did not fill up with water from the ocean?

It was pretty deep where it carved through Florida and I don't think Florida is much higher than sea level in most places?

But did the gouge not go quite far inland as well, above Florida? I don't remember exactly.

Given that there later exists the means to actually control the weather on Earth, repairing the damage from the Xindi weapon (and restoring it to pre-attack conditions) should be relatively easy...

Terra-forming baby!! Maybe that's where they came up with the concept.

I've never believed this particular plotline anyway... honestly, why would someone, intent on wiping you out, tip their hand by staging an attack... before the real one? Wouldn't the Xindi just tested their weapon on another planet, before coming after Earth.
Instead, they tell all of known space that they are gunning for the humans, and everyone has a chance to come after them... "You see? Your Stupid minds! All you Xindi are stupid! Stupid, STUPID!!!"

For the same reason that Earth was fine after having a good chunk of its oceans boiled in Star Trek IV
![]() The first attack was a probe, designed to test the effectiveness of their beam on whatever the Earth was made out of, so they'd get an impression of what sort of power they'd need to split the planet open. Season 3 was a great arc, though. Similitude's probably one of my favorite episodes of any Trek.
