Default Trek-related crime as movie release approaches

Man robs stores with Klingon sword

Quote:
The first robbery was reported at 1:50 a.m., at 145 N Spruce St. The clerk told police a white man in his 20s, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and wearing a black mask, entered the store with a weapon the clerk recognized from the Star Trek TV series.
All right, which one of you did it?

Do you think this is the start of a trend?

On a more serious note, I'm curious about how this fellow expects to get away with it. In my experience, people with geeky toys like this tend to let everyone around them know they've got one; thus, for the police, "finding the guy with the Klingon sword" shouldn't be too difficult a task.

Just one more thing...This sort of crap really burns me up! I bet you dollars to dough-nuts that the guy ripped off the sword from his roomate and then commited the crime! Probably because the sword looked like business. This is going to be a black mark on Trekkie records for sure.

More importantly, why didn't the clerk have a shotgun, and why wasn't said shotgun used to smear this loser's innards all over the wall of the store?

Hey, Klingon Swords don't kill people... people with Klingon swords kill people!

Don't make too much of this. Some creep grabs an el-cheapo replica from somewhere and holds up a convienince store with it... big deal. It could just as easily been a machete, or a baseball bat, or anything else that could have been used as a club/knife.

We'll hear a few late night talk show monolouge jokes about it, then it'll disappear.

Because he did not want to behave like a Klingon and respond with violence?

The is a store here were I live that is in crime prone area, for years it was robbed on a regular basis. then one night the cashier was working alone and fed up. Robber comes in with a knife, cashier pulls out a gun, robber leaves knife and makes quick exit. The crime in that area has not changed much, still a very bad part of town, but that store has not been robbed in 15 years. I know it's true I was the cashier and when I quit I left my gun under the counter, it's still there.
