The UFP flag also decorates the shipyard. I don't think it's bad, it's just that I expected TOS symbols.

TPTB realized a long time ago that there were too many different symbols. They want something instantly recognizable as Trek, and the E emblem is it. The universal symbol for SFCOM has been the arrowhead/delta/whatever since TMP.

I think it was somewhat careless of JJ and co. to place ENT, TOS, TMP, and TNG emblems all over the place seemingly at random. That makes me wonder about what other future references will be in this supposedly TOS-era movie.
