If you are reading these posts...
Let Doohan play his father's original role. It's wonderful that you've included him in the film. Let's face it, it's in the genes! ![]() |

Just because it's "in the genes" doesn't mean that Chris Doohan is capable of acting the role well. I'm sure Simon Pegg will do a fine job, and it is great gesture on Abrams' part to include him in the movie.

It's a little late for that since Simon Pegg is already filming in the part...

Yeah...it's not in the genes. It's not anywhere close.
I'm sure Simon Pegg will do a fine job. NO ONE is Jimmy Doohan, nor could they hope to replace him. They can merely try to put their own stamp on the role and hope that, somewhere, Jimmy is looking down on them and smiling. |

Chris may not have gotten the part his father played but IMDB.com shows that he is part of the cast. See this is a great example of respecting what came before and at the same time trying to make the best film possible. as far as I can see they are doing things right!

It's in stark contrast to Sean Pertwee. Whenever Doctor Who fans ask him whether he would consider playing the role his dad John made famous (the Third Doctor) you know what he says? "No." Sean doesn't want to disrespect himself or his dad by running around doing a cheap impersonation of him. Chris could learn a thing or two from Sean... |
