Okay... So far I thought ALL the toys looked really cool, especially the ENT, the transporter room and the communicator. But this?! Looks like it came out of a bad 60's sci-fi B movie... If this is the real deal, I certainly won't get one and I really hope that the movie props look more "real" than this... Oy!

Okay. I have to admit, the Abramsprise looks...just a little bit...better from that angle. But I still can't figure out the reason for the hoods over the bussards or the scoops on the bottoms of the nacelles. The original didn't have those. And the neck is still too far back on the secondary hull. Still a real wierd looking ship but not as wierd looking from this angle. Oh well, maybe it'll look better on the screen, but I doubt it.

The communicator is pretty cool. I just wish they would have used a gold-tone grille instead of black plastic. It sorta reminds me of Pike's communicator from "The Cage/Menagerie" and the one from WNMHGB in that the flip cover is larger than the unit itself. Still should should a metal grille, though.

The tricorder also looks okay. It looks like they took the tricorders from TOS/TNG/ENT and melded them all together. Not bad, but pretty much exactly what I expected. I would have rather have seen more "classic 23rd century design. Black finish, silver highlights...". Oh well. This is the Abramsverse, after all.

The phaser is just wierd looking. The handle and rear section kind of looks like the Star Trek II - IV phasers. And the rotating barrel thing? WTF? Do they have to manually rotate it? Or is it motorized? Why not just have a stun/kill switch. It would be far less complicated. And is is chrome plated???

And the bridge. If I didn't know it was supposed to be the Enterprise bridge, I would say it was awesome. It looks extremely cool. But the only thing it shares in common with the TOS bridge is the position of the captain's chair and helm/nav stations. What are the extra stations between the outer circle and the center? The original didn't have any of those. And this bridge looks like it is twice as large as the TOS bridge. And what's the purpose of those tall glass screens/windows or whatever they are. No bridge of any Enterprise from the NX-01 to the NCC-1701-E has had anything like that. I just don't get it. But like I said, this is the bridge according to the Abramsverse.

Now, the figures are pretty cool. At least they are wearing the right colors.

Anyway, I know I'm going to catch a lot of crap because I'm not singing the praises of the new toys. Sorry. They just don't look right to me. I'm still probably going to buy one of each just to keep for my collection. But I still don't like the look of the E or the bridge. So fire away. I have my insult-proof vest on.

*I'd bet the top is a kitbash based on the TOS E, AMT style.*
I bet you're wrong.

*These are not the same.*
And should be your first clue that other things are going on.
The two are different in many aspects.
I'm puzzled over the idea that people think there's only going to be one Enterprise in a time travel movie that has already informed people that different time lines and time frames (nee Kelvin) are involved, from a director known for non-linear stories.

Why would anyone insult you over what you have said?

(Actually, one thing: The Ent-D from ''Yesterday's Enterprise'' had that big plastic screen thing as well. but only one of them.)

I've been insulted on many occasions on this board because of my opinions concerning the new movie. I'm used to it, though.

It is not the opinions themselves, I assure you. Merely the presentation.
