I see wheels on the bike... shouldn't it be hovering like the cop's bike?

From the trailer it seems clear the battle scenes and some of the other action sequences take a lot of inspiration from SW, especially the newer, prequels Ep 1-3.
Its impressive CGI wizardry etc, but something about the majesty of the ships in ST will be lost amidst all that chaos. The battle in TWOK is to this day my favourite. Two great ships slugging it out to the death, awesome.
(As an aside thought, the E was as much a character of the show as the actors, I get the feeling the E will be lost in this film, among the many, varied, 'all singing all dancing' CGI creativity, but with the new design that might not be a bad thing! Any thoughts?)

JJA et al said that this movie will be very ship-centered, i.e. a lot of scenes of and aboard the E and the Kelvin and any other ships.
Again, inference from a few seconds in a trailer (for those who like to play that ridiculous game: most part of the trailer is character centered) does not hold up.

Actually, if that scene of Kirk on the motorcycle reminds me of anything, it would be more of Tom Cruise in "Top Gun" than anything Lucas did...

"Subway-style" of Trek?

What's that supposed to mean?

That last point was a good one Horatio. I think the battles will be going SW style.
As a Trekkie I hope the characters and ships do remain central, but, is this a Trekkie's movie, or Prequel SW generation? Can you accomodate both and be all things to all men....
