At least the NX-01 was very utilitarian and looks like something that was thoughtfully designed and constructed. The Abramsprise, on the other hand, looks as if it were hatched in some labaratory from a genetically enhanced egg-sac, and grown in a test tube.
Well said, as for getting used to the new ship, this "Abramsprise" well I hope I get used to it... but regardless the movie still looks cool.

I'm used to it and I still don't like it.
It's still ugly...massively...ugly.

This is the way I see. Star Trek TOS, as great and marvelous as it was, was basically a 60's view of how they thought the future would look. In reality they couldn't get away from the 60's feeling completely however: go-go boots, mini dresses (dresses so high, all the girl had to do was stretch and you'd see camel toe), hair styles, psychadelic colors on the sets, etc. Star Trek (film) in my opinion (so far anyway) is still Star Trek. But it's 2000's view, J. J. Abrams version if you will, of how the future will look. He still kept basic ship design and outfits. But it's still there.

She really was a beautiful ship. But the point is it was a drastic change from 1701. It looked almost alien. In fact what people criticize about the "Abramsprise", I pretty much remember the same things being said about Ent-D when it first came out.

I wonder if this is the real design from the movie...
For those who wanna see the pic without clicking links and reading stuff:

If the original design was an absolute impossibility, I would have rather they had used Gabe Koerner's design...

Big difference here...TNG moved ahead into new territory with a new starship design (even if it was a lemon)...STXI is going backward and redesigning things that we already know what they are supposed to look like.

And that Ryan Church creation does not look like what the Enterprise looked like in the time of Captain Pike.

Sorry, but it's too late. The movie has been made, the effects are done, it's in the can. Release date is imminent.

The only influence anyone has now is with his wallet. Open or closed, your choice.

If someone doesn't go to see this movie because he/she doesn't like the new design of the Enterprise, its their lose.

You are right...It looks nothing like Pike's ship....It looks better...just go and see the movie!
