Default Windows 7 Beta

I just downloaded it and installed it on my PC at home. Its actually pretty nice. So far been running pretty smooth. I dont have a super computer by anymeans I think it would run better than Vista on my machine. (It had XP). Not much to review yet just got it going. Anyone else playing with it?

Yep, had issues getting it to install though. Have a feelin it don't like my old PC with AMD chip in it or something... could be a bad image burn I guess also... I may try again later. A friend who told me about it says it runs as good as XP and way better than Vista... and it's still in beta!

Yea I've been impressed with it. The Gui is actually pretty cool looking to. Its like what Vista should have been.

What type of functions do people try to do that cause Vista to crash, or whatever it is they complain about? I have had Vista on my refurbed Gateway for a long time and have had only a few programs freeze a couple of times, nothing task manager couldn't handle. Am I the only one that has had good luck with Vista?

No real problems with Vista from me, other than the rather annoying feature of auto-update that I leave on to keep current, and then the subsequent auto-reboot I wasn't watching for; right in the middle of doing something else.

I have my computer set to manuel for those things. I get little messages telling me when it is time to update. I have to click on it to get the updates. After the updates are installed I will get similar messages to restart the computer, but I have to say "yes" in order for it to happen. That would drive me nuts if my computer restarted while I was in the middle of something.

from what i've seen it looks GREAT! But it looks even more like M$ is trying to clone OS X

Here's a Comparison:

Windows Vista: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ndows_Aero.png

Windows 7: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...build_7000.png

OS X Leopard: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...rd_Desktop.png

Plus, M$ is removing Movie Maker and all of it's other little programs and putting them into the "Windows Live Essentials Suite" (iLife anybody????) which doesn't bother me much because I use a Mac, and the programs in iLife (iMovie, GarageBand, iTunes, etc) will still PAWN everything in Windows.
