Default Karl Urban talks Trek like a real fan

I happened upon this clip of Karl Urban talking about the new movie. I loved DeForest and I now love Karl.

To my knowledge, Urban and Pegg are the fans among the main cast. Not that it is very relevant as JJA encouraged them to not try to copy the style of the old actors, but as Urban has the hardest job IMO, it might actually help him knowing and liking with whom he will be compared.

One of the best parts of the trailer and not caught by many was Urban's spot-on Bones when he talked about space being dark, dangerous, etc. It exactly captured the theme and attitude of what Dee Kelly brought to the role of Bones. It is not, of course some comedy routine impersonation. It was a very subtle capture of what the character of Bones is in the Star Trek universe. I have great hopes that Urban will come away with a very fan friendly performance.

Anybody else notice the Gabe Koerner version of the Enterprise on the screen behind Urban during this interview? I like that version of the ship better, actually, but I can't believe the program didn't to their homework a little better than that.

Not just that, but the man interviewing him correctly noted that his prompts mistook Bones for Spock. I think someone was trying to sabotage them!

Could it be the old "Dr. Spock" blunder?

My confidence in Urban's work as McCoy only increases with every interview I see/read.

In what little I have seen or read certainly inspires me to believe that Karl Urban is going to do the character of McCoy justice.

Yes, I'm very impressed with the actors JJ gathered together for this movie. Famous or not, they all have reputations of good work.
