Default Chris Pine: The Person, The Actor

A friend of mine that I used to work with moved out to Hollywood with a dream many have had before...to become a working actor in the movie/television industry.

Over the last three years my friend has had a certain degree of success (commercials, documentaries, small movie roles) and during that time he also took a 12-week theater course alongside (yep you guessed it) Chris Pine. During the 12-week course Chris was in the process of making a name for himself when Just My Luck and Smokin Aces hit theaters. However, Chris continued taking classes and improving his craft and my friend found him to be a "very humble person and a hungry actor" with a "good head on his shoulders."

From this first hand account, it would seem to me that Chris Pine will be a worthy James T. Kirk that will not disappoint us long-time Trek fans when the new film finally arrives.

He seems like a decent guy.

He helped Princess Mia, after all.

Now, he'll save the galaxy.

What's not to like?

How cool is that! Man, would I love to be an extra on this new tellilng of Trek! Many moons ago, I was an extra in the movie, "Glory." Morgan Freeman, Jodi Foster, and Matthew Brodrick were all pretty cool. The only actor I didn't get an opportunity to meet was Denzil Washington. What struck me was that they were all just "regular people." Ever since that week on Jekyl Island, I said that I wouldn't ever be an autograph hound.

But I didn't say I wouldn't geek out if I met the original & new crew of the Enterprise!

I watched the movie "Blind Dating" after it was announed that Pine got the role of Kirk. I think he did a good job and can see him as a young Kirk. IMO he is still looks too young to play a "Captain" Kirk. I'm curious how this will work in the movie.
