Exclamation NEW Communicator, medical device, earpiece

A few photos of the new props. The communicator is not overly impressive but it works, I like it.

I'm liking 'em. I'm sure there'll be all kinds of uproar about how terrible the so called tricorder is, but, as with everything in this movie, lets keep an open mind.

Its weird that they call it a tricorder when it is only the peripheral medical scanning device.

I want to see how they changed the actual tricorder unit

It's a ''human adventure'' not a hardware adventure.

Does anybody else think the communicator looks too much like an iPod or iPhone? I do think the communications earpiece is very true to the original, though.

Your comparison of the communicator to an iPhone will make those who compared the new bridge to an iPod store happy...

I'd agree with the site's comment that the "lightsaber" is probably the scanner for the tricorder.

I think it looks realistic but it looks nothing like an iPhone. It has no big black touch screen, is a totally different shape and colour and is made of totally different materials. Where is the actual similarity?
Do people have to crticise every little thing about the movie?

Whoa! Did you design the thing or what? I didn't necessarily mean it as an objectively negative comment, just that the design isn't all that "futuristic." My initial reaction was to the simplicity of design, and how different it is from the original. After reconsidering my comment, I would have to say it looks - which is no more than a comment on its general visual appearance, not materials or details - more like an older iPod (the ones with the circular navigation element on the front.) Also, there are no buttons or lights, and apparently no flip-top (at least that I see.)

Besides, I thought the images were offered specifically for comment. Sorry you took mine to be so critical.

I can only hope that the new phaser looks more futuristic than what we have seen so far... and that's just the honest truth and my solid opinion.

Please let everyone comment though, even if it is negative... all opinions count!
