Personally, I don't hate Nemesis nor do I think it's the worst Trek...however the new Trek will beat the holy hell outta it in terms of box office returns (and probably reviews). Paramount is betting it all on this movie and it shows with all the advertising and merchandising that's planned.

As for the debate about The Final Frontier, it's nowhere near the bottom of my list of Trek movies. It is firmly in the middle. And it has my second favorite score out of all the films.

I think just about every movie ever made including Gigli made more money than Star Trek Nemesis.

LOL! I dunno. Supernova and Battlefield: Earth didn't last very long in theaters either.

Total Worldwide Gross:

Gigli: $7,266,209

Battlefield Earth: $29,725,663

Star Trek Nemesis: $67,312,826

At least it more than doubled Battlefield Earth! LOL.

But comparing it to "Gigli"....isn't that like kicking a man when he's down?

After I came out of the small, out of the way theatre where I saw Battlefield Earth on some random, grey Ocean City, NJ day........some guy from the Church of Scientology with a clipboard actually came up to me and asked me what I thought of the film. I told him it was probably the worst movie I have ever seen.

True story.

More fun tidbits:

Battlefield Earth
Opening Weekend: 11.6 million
Theatrical Release: 66 days

Gigli:
Opening Weekend: 3.7 million
Theatrical Release: 21 days

Nemesis
Opening Weekend: 18.5 million
Theatrical Release: 81 days

Also, in regards to Nemesis, it appears that it's box office failure was due more to Trek fans not liking it more than the general public. For example, "First Contact" was seen by both Trek & non-Trek audiences, which is why it succeded. Nemesis was seen by non-Trek audiences, but the Trek audience didn't show up as was predicted.

In other words, Trek movies that succeed appeal to both the Trek fan and the non-Trek fan. Not that this is breaking news, but I found it interesting that Trek fans actually determine the fate of a Trek movie, not non-Trek fans.....

THAT is very funny!

Let this be a lesson....PLEASE fellow Trek fans, after the new movie comes out do not stand outside with clipboards and try to interview people about the movie!
