Yet more wisdom, Mission!

I seriously doubt that it's going to happen, but hey...

How cool would it be for all of us Canon Freaks who have been whining, griping and complaining for the last couple months?!

Imagine the scenario - we just sat through two hours of movie - acting like total Trekkie Geeks and annoying everyone around us - clucking away about the many changes to canon, set design, uniforms, communicators, tricorders, etc., etc., only to have the movie end with a "restored" timeline that features the real, true, original USS Enterprise NCC-1701 appearing in the horizon with a really slow beauty sweep of the ship, and then ending with an interior scene on the original bridge, complete with original uniforms and all the rest. Sort of like the end of STIV: The Voyage Home when the NCC-1701A was first revealed.

Given the sophistication of CGI effects, it wouldn't really be all that difficult to accomplish. And it would be such a total burn to each and every one of us who spent so much time arguing and debating on these threads about the sanctity and preservation of our sacred canon!

Like I said, I seriously doubt that it will happen, but wow, it would be great!

Yep, that's what Orci said...until he changed his story and came up with the "alternate reality" story that basically gives free reign to change whatever they like without any consequences.

Ya know, that would be AWESOME!!!! I wouldn't mind that at all. It'll never happen. But wouldn't it be nice?

I can't shake the feeling that if things revert to the original series timeline at the end of the film, such as the Enterprise and the bridge being classic TOS style, I'll feel slightly cheated.

Despite the hope for this flick, despite liking all the set designs and asthetic changes, the casting, everything....if J.J. hits the reset button at the end of the film after already having hit it at the beginning of the film, then I'll be pissed quite frankly.

I would have been perfectly happy with a "clean" reboot without too much pandering to the fact that this is changing a lot of the TOS material. If they reset the timeline a la Yesterday's Enterprise at the end, then the 4th wall is obliterated and you may as well have the ****ing Supreme Court doing a cameo in the final shot of the bridge crew, winking at the camera and giving a thumbs up.

How does that contradict what he said before? Why are you treating the STXI team like it's a political campaign and your agenda is to create attack ads:

Orci...

He lies...

First he said this...

Now... he's saying that....

Orci... Can we really trust him?

You hit the nail on the head: Orci didn't contradict himself, but certain facts have to be continually ignored in order to preserve a certain line of argument against the film.

After all, how could the co-writer of the film possibly know what he's talking about?

Not just that. How is it possible for ideas to change during filming? Oh, man, that's unheard of!
