Default What film in the series so far do you consider the worst and why?

I consider them all great films but if I had to choose it would be ST:TMP. I feel it tried too hard to appeal to Star Wars fans from the costumes to the over all look of the film.

Nemesis is a close second, I felt that was not the "Swan Song" that cast deserved.

TMP didnt try to attract Star Wars fans but the 2001 : A Space Odyssey audience.

My vote goes for Nemesis. Insurrection wasnt really much better. First Contact sucked too. Generations was terrible either. For me all TNG movies share a common place. And then comes TMP as a second.

NEM had too many mistakes. GENS wasn't bad IMO. TFF had some nice scenes and meaning ("I doubt any god who inflicts pain for his own pleasure" and "I need my pain!") and TMP has such a beautiful soundtrack!

I picked Generations because the story felt so rushed and hurried that it comes off as a farse of a Trek movie or a badly written fan made production with better F/X. STV was better than this even with its mistakes, lower grade F/X, and missing scenes. IMO

To a certain degree you might be right but I feel that coming out two years after Star Wars and ten years after 2001 they were leaning more towards what attracted SO many people to Star Wars.

In actuality they were probably trying to attract all the Star Trek:TOS fans that made the show a hit in reruns, all the Star Wars fans AND all the 2001 fans. ST:TMP did lean more towards the feel of 2001 than SW when I think about it. At the time it was released I was a kid and didn't know much about 2001 so that is what made me feel that they were after the SW's fans.

I wonder where Alien fits into all this? SW, ST or 2001 audience. Was the Alien the H.A.L., Veger or Vader of that film?

Great reply Botany Bay! It made my melon work and consider some things I didn't at first.

This should be multiple choice. There is certainly more than one bad one.

Then it wouldn't be THE worst. But I could have split it up - worst TOS cast film and worst TNG cast film.

I have to say that the worst Star Trek for me was Star Trek V with Insurrection a close second.

I fail to comprehend your indignation, sir. I have simply made the logical deduction that you are a liar. (Spock)
