Post Star Trek MMO - Star Trek Online

Star Trek Games has been tracking the Star Trek MMO, Star Trek Online, since it was first announced (in fact we broke the news about it). You can find the most comprehensive listing of news articles for it here.

Given all that has happened, what are your thoughts on the subject? Do you feel that this title can actually reach release? Were you saddened, upset, other when you heard that P2 canceled development of it?

I think it'll be released, anytime soon? I highly doubt it... I was really looking forward to it when it was announced a while back a couple of years ago; now from my understanding, it will probably have to be redone, so it's like starting all over again... *sigh*

It was a poor idea to begin with, so I'm not that upset.

You think the idea of making a MMO based on the Star Trek universe poor, or the way in which they were planning on implementing it poor?

No, no. An idea of Star Trek MMO is a great one. But it's a very difficult feat to pull off. The concepts Perpetual has presented were very hard to imagine working as an enjoyable and interesting game. Let alone their later decision to do a more casual approach.

You too Calvert!

When do you think Cryptic will give a formal announcement?

Its an odd subject really because while i know that it is in the hands of some new guys now, they do still have to start from scatch unfortunately.

Meanwhile I just hope that the game is eventually done and done well.

Just dont give it to Bethesda :P

I think in the end of this year... I hope so. Perhaps we've to wait until 2009 and they will come up with the first screenshots...

I'm not upset - it's going to be going to a company that knows how to do MMORPGs.
