The ship still looks hideous. The saucer is the only good looking part, because there's nothing changed about it. You can change the engineering section.. but not re-arrange it in such an ugly manner.

Abrams let everyone know this movie isn't for us ; it's for future fans.

Say goodbye to your original constitution, be satisfied with the travesty this design is.

I think they're are 3 shuttles in the picture. I think that's them being shuttle aboard...

It's not the ugliest thing ever, it's just like Rosie O'Donnell compared to Beyonce. One is the OBVIOUS choice.

Obviously a comparison only understandable to US citizens who know her.
Back on topic, I have to agree with Kevin. She looks fine from a single-movie perspective, at least better than from a Trekverse view.
The dark lightning makes her look better and the high-res picture reveals that she seems to have a similar hull structure as the Kelvin due to those plates which look familiar to the movie E or the small model of the D which had this roughend-up surface as well.

look at the external shot from the original trailer, the 'viewscreen' window is clearly dead center
