Who watched Battlestar Galactica here? (the new series)
And if you are, make sure to watch the new webisodes that are constantly coming out. The hype about the remaining episodes are insane! I love the series. |

*Too bad this is the last season.*
Well yeah, but not every show needs to run some artificial standard of 7 seasons to somehow feel magically complete. 100 episodes (about 4 years or thereabouts) is all that is required really for a "normal" syndication package. Many shows don't even need this preset number. The old Galactica series was 1 season (2 if you count 1980; which honestly was just as "kiddie friendly") and TOS Trek was less than 100 as 2 examples. Caprica has been greenlit though.

I love BSG and am sorry it will be ending. I look forward to the spinoff, Caprica. The webisodes are cool too. The first episode of season 4.5 is January 16th.

Love the series and I have to agree with Omega, it is the best scifi series on the planet! Can't wait for Caprica and The Plan to come out!

I love both versions of Battlestar Galactica.
The original 1978 version was a more optimistic, swashbuckling romp of fun and adventure. Sure, it looks dated, but back then it was the shiznit, and I still love watching it even today. Back then, when I was just a kid, it was my weekly "Star Wars" fix. (In fact, I saw Battlestar Galactica before I ever got to see Star Wars in the theaters.) The current version feels more like a "drama set in space" as opposed to a typical sci-fi series, and has great emotional impact with its episodes. (And it has a killer guest star roster....Bill Duke, Dana Delaney, John Heard, ...and recurring appearances from original series star--the original Apollo-- Richard Hatch, and Xena's Lucy Lawless--who looks damn hot as a blonde!) Unlike the original series, there isn't a slam bang space battle every week....in fact, action is rarer than one would expect from a show bearing this title...however, when the action does happen, it is the knock-you-out-of-your-seat, blow you away kind of action...and every victory for the rag tag fleet, no matter how small, feels somehow significant. I also love the music that Bear McCreary does for this series. (Bear now does music for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). |
