Default Borg technology

I'm toying with a story idea for an episode and I'm not sure about the following.

What would happen if someone tries to establish a telepathic link or mind meld with somebody linked to a collective mind, similar to the Borg?

Would that mean that person will be linked to the collective mind as well or are those 2 completely different things?

I believe something similar was done in Voyager with Tuvok and Seven, but I don't remember much about it.

I believe that one would be linked to the collective then yes, which brings up an interesting question...do telepaths such as betazoids have a unique role in the borg collective or are their abilities suppressed...since they...might gain control over the collective as a whole.

Well... when Data was linked to Locutus in The Best of Both Worlds, he remained an individual but could still perceive the thoughts of the collective. I reckon it'd be similar for an actual telepath too. A Betazoid, for instance, would likely sense a vast 'sea' of uniform thought from every drone on the approaching vessel, whereas a mind-melded Vulcan would temporarily absorb some facets of collective mind.

A question that remains is how 'strong' the collective consciousness is. Would the effect be billions of times stronger than telepathically linking to an individual, since the collective is comprised of so many countless brains working in unison? Or would it be like a regular brain, since there's only one collective consciousness, with its power and thought processes so de-centralised and spread thin?
I'm thinking the latter, based on Data's experiences and the fact that Betazoids and Vulcans don't keel over dead from the psychic shock of coming to close to interlinked Borg minds.

We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own...

I think all you have to do is look at Picard to know if the Borg have assimilated telepathic abilities. More than a decade after being transformed into Locutus, Picard still has a telepathic rapport with the Borg--most likely given to him from being linked to various telepaths in the Collective.

Best of Both Worlds suggested that the individual underneath the Borg drone is only suppressed and cannot be destroyed at once, it probably takes several weeks or months. This episode also suggested that the trick to defeat the Borg is using ONE drone to infiltrate them.
So concerning your question, I believe you can do the story either * la Best of Both Worlds, a telepath can link him- or herself to the hivemind but only access less important systems like Data did when he was linked to Picard or you can do it dramatically i.e. the Borg are aware of the immediate danger of a telepathic link to a drone (they are aware of this and increased their securityafter the Locutus incident), and do kind of a battle between the telepathic and the hive mind.

Thanks everyone, you all have some interesting thoughts on this. The thing about some kind of battle between the telepathic and the collective mind might just be exactly what I need for this story!

If you're interested, this is what I had in mind for the story (spoiler):

story in short

If I use this storyline, it will probably be filmed around late 2010.

Robin what do you think about the Borg being started by the NX02 Columbia traveling back in time.
