For my part, nope. Still dislike their production and still laugh at them.

Both very subjective terms. If I said "I dislike NV because I find it to be little more than silly nostalgia for a style of Star Trek which is now obsolete, thus Cawley's earlier complaints (made before he was offered a part) about the new movie not being "pure" simply because it isn't an exact replication of the style of TOS, are as absurd as complaining that "Batman Begins" didn't have "POW" and "SPLAT" on screen graphics like the campy TV show of the 1960's"....someone may come along and say something like..... Have you seen World Enough And Time? How would you compare that to some actual TOS episodes, hmmm? Certainly better than Spock's Brain I should think.

So in the spirit of constructive critisism- If Cawley's going to keep this thing going, I really think he should get someone else to play Kirk. He comes off as a Shatner impersonator. I don't care for the actor playing Scott either. It looks like they got someone new playing Spock so we'll see how that turns out. They have kick *** effects but the acting & some of the sets don't jive with it. I realize that this thing is near & dear to Cawley's heart & he's a purist but I think he needs to let the role go to someone younger & bring in some artists who can amp up the sets & bit & still keep them pure & get a director who can pull something more from the actors & get a new Scott. |

I think STNV is great fun. Cawley and Co. have managed to do something with Star Trek that the mighty Paramount hasn't: appeal to core, original Trekkies.
It's decent story telling, it looks good and they love doing it. What could be wrong with that? I certainly love it more than I did "Star Trek: Voyager," thanks. |

I have the first three episodes of STNV on my hard drive, and I won't delete them for anything. Each show has become better than the last, World Enough and Time was brilliant, and whether Cawley's involvement in XI brings more legitimacy to STNV or not, I will continue to watch whatever is produced.
I disagree that they need a new Kirk or Scott, I liked the old Spock, and I think they're doing just fine as is. As for criticism, HRH and I have been in a few arguments at StarTrek.com and I, for one, listen to him about as much as he believes the STNV episodes are canon, so not really at all. The man's never had a single constructive thing to say, and his only use is to instigate arguments, so he's useless. As for my take on whether STNV is canon or not, I've not seen anything in the episodes, yet, that could NOT be considered canon, although I also must say I feel a lot of what's been done is re-hashed TOS. That's alright, though, because the goal with that, were I producing STNV, would be to introduce those who, perhaps, don't know much about TOS to what's come before, to link TOS to STNV. I see nothing wrong with that and, as a result, the entertainment value of STNV is much greater to me than to a bunch of hypocritical hyper-critical Siskel and Ebert wanna-be's. Good day. |

But you have to admit, World Enough and Time was about as close as anyone could get to recreating TOS

You can do whatever you want, but frankly your longtime hijacking of ENT discussion turned to "criticizing" the series nonstop has become quite old.
