Default Shatnerverse

This thread is for discussing the profound Shatnerverse novels, and their impact on science, culture, philosophy, religion, and consciousness.

It's been awhile since I read Shatner's account of post-Generations Kirk. I didn't like the books; they were really hard for me to swallow. It's like he just took the character he decided was "his" and went off in a totally unrealistic direction. Some of the things Kirk does in those books seemed totally out of character for him and really struck me as a poorly written attempt to resurrect a character because the actor that had come to identify with him couldn't let him go. Which is sad, because I like some of the other things Shatner has written.

While Mr. Shatner was writtng this series of books to be serious...he still wrote them to appeal to "fanon" so to speak.

I actually liked the Shatner novels. I have NOT read the one where is brought back to life by the Borg, but I have read them all after that one.

I did not read the Zombie-Jesus-Shatner-Kirk novel either.
Did not the Reeves-Stevenses write those books ?
Yep, they wrote the books. That is why they are good. The Kirk "resurrection" was just Borg nano-probes at work, so I did not think it was too far out there....even for Trek. (Based I what I know from the books after the first).

Reeves-Stevens may have written the details, but the overall plot, with its profound philosophical and scientific implications, was pure Shat.

It's difficult to think of any other books that have had this large an impact on science and human thinking.

I read somewhere that some of Shatner's books are written by Ghost Writers.
