Default J.J.s Comment

I just caught a small interview that was showing on our local "TV Guide" channel and J.J. said flat out that this movie is not being made for current ST fans but for future fans. I don't necessarily have a big problem with this; but his delivery of this comment is what bothers me.
Did anyone else see this and did you catch the arrogance in his voice?

He's definitely not arrogant. He always comes across as very likeable.

hes trying to provide seperation from the current fanbase, to establish a more fresh approach. This will work, necause it will tell Popular Culture that this is their movie. it wasn't made just for us.

I've never seen him to come across as arrogant in other interviews but then I didn't see this interview. If I remember correctly he even said he was not a fan of ST:TOS but saw ST:TMP and enjoyed that.

I don't believe he, himself is arrogant either. I just feel that this particular comment, during this particular interview came across as a "get a life" snipe. At least that is how I heard it.

I don't care if this movie is for us, me, you or them. As long as it's Star Trek, and it's good Star Trek.

If anyone was arrogant, it was Rick Berman who basically answered the question "What went wrong with NEM?" with "nothing, it was perfect. I can't explain why people said it was so crap, because I did everything right"

Star Trek needs new fans.
Most of us are hooked on Trek already.
New blood in the Star Trek fan pool is not a bad thing.
