If Leonard Nimoy sees an alternate universe he doesn't like, he simply sidekicks it into submission.

Leonard Nimoy once got indigestion from the Mongolian Beef from Uncle Bingo's Chinese Takeout, so he went back in time and had Tex-Mex instead. Then he gave Uncle Bingo the Vulcan Death Grip, which until that moment didn't really exist.

in case you missed the article, here it is: http://trekmovie.com/2008/12/11/bob-...-real-science/

I understand what he's saying but unless things really resolve by the movie's end, I'll still think that this was a cheap way out of writing a real Trek prequel. What's it gonna be, make it all different and then pretend it never happened? the "prime" timeline wasn't good enough to support a story so we'll just make up our own and then justify it with quantum mechanics so we don't get in trouble with the fans?

As I said before, it sounds like decent science fiction but $hitty Trek. Regardless, I'm still looking forward to how this all plays out onscreen.

Isn't Trek decent science fiction? Like this concept is brand new to the Trek Universe...wait and see the movie before you call something S***ty...Okay?

But isn't that the implied point? The TOS universe, films and all Trek so far still exists. It's not that it never happened. We would just be shifting into an alternate where things play out somewhat similarly, but also differently. It means they can start over with a new universe to explore without erasing the past one and saying it never happened.
