Default Is the canon issue now over??????

Now that the writers have confirmed that the events of Star Trek XI are those of an alternate time line, issues of canon are pretty much void now. Are there still things for canon hounds to complain about anymore? If not its gonna get AWFULLY quiet around here...

in case you missed the article, here it is: http://trekmovie.com/2008/12/11/bob-...-real-science/

We've already got a discussion going in that thread, but I'd have to say the canon/continuity discussion/fight/flamebait will never, ever be over.

Okay, and now let's get something straight. Because this is a different timeline it doesn't mean that events in this movie will not effect the Star Trek universe we grew up with.

One of the big theories about multiverses is the idea that if you do something in one universe something will happen relatively similar in the rest of them. If Nero went back to kill Kirk and destroy Vulcan in one universe, Kirk and Vulcan will be destroyed in the other universes as well, but probably in different ways.

That's just theory of course.

Like Data said, anything that CAN happen, DOES happen. So that means everything is canon!

Default It's only my opinion but...

if Nero messes with the timeline, then how does Spock become aware that it has been messed with?

I think Spock would have to become aware of Nero's intention before Nero goes back and affects any change.

Because Leonard Nimoy told him.

Leonard Nimoy knows all futures in all universes.

Word.
