Great interview, Thanks fo sharing. The interview answers a lot of question for other threads on this forum. Robot cop or not Comes to mind. Some spoilers about death I won't repeat. Answers to "Canon" arguments. And why J.J. has said some of the things he has.

I agree. It was a very informative interview.

Very good interview, I thought. I did think the question regarding the location of the Enterprise's construction was poorly worded and got exactly what it deserved: a one-word answer.

This settles my mind about the movie so much

I have to quote a scene of Captain Sisko's.

Sisko: They're going to attack.
Bashir: Are you sure?!
Sisko: I'm positive. The moment I said I wasn't removing the mines we both knew there'd be war. Everything else was an attempt to lull the other into false sense of security. I didn't buy it and I'm sure Weyoun didn't either.

Same thing here.
I didn't fall for it.
We all knew after seeing that preview that it was going to be all new...everything else he's saying is attempt to lull trek fans into a false sense of security....It's an interview...he's not going to say anything but a carefully scripted macro

One thing is for certain, Orci is a ****ing Trekkie, probably more than some of the people here. His answers are riddled with episode and movie referrences.

Tell me that's not someone you want working on this film.

Come on people. Why the crap are we treating this like the next presidential election?

I can see hate ads now:

"J. J. Abrams.

Abrams said this movie is not going to be for Trek fans.

Abrams apparently thinks Star Trek canon is not important.

Abrams made radical changes to what is supposed to be the first Enterprise.

Abrams.

Do we really need such radical views on a new Star Trek project?

I'm Mr. Purist Trekkie and I approve this message."

CUT IT OUT! IT'S JUST A MOVIE!!!!

Yeah. But a rude little person over at Trek BBS already came up with an answer to that:

I get so sick of people's nitpicky BS.

I liked how the interview went and I really appreciated how Orci talks like a true Trekkie. It gives me some hope.
