There was also a Ruth in Kirk's past. He re-imagined her in Shore Leave. I wonder where she fits into JTK's past?

Wow, does that mean she looked nothing like the original (nose straightened, boob job, dyed hair, tat removal)? Because that's what that means around here.

Maybe he just got tired of every minute detail becoming law. Does that mean a tribble can be first mate next movie?

ew....that was "improved"? Yikes....

I could see both Carol and Ruth being "easter egg" characters. Characters who normally would be "extras" with minimal lines "I'll see you later" or "I'm headed back to the lab" or something like that. Only Kirk responds with "See ya, Ruth" or "Thanks, Carol"....so the non-trek members of the audience just see a bit player in a bit part.....we all squee with happiness that Carol and Ruth were seen.... (please, Mr. Abrams, if you do put Ruth in...keep that hairdo!!)

I wish Rand was in this movie! Hopefully if all goes well, she will be in the sequel!

She is a hottie!

I always thought she looked plastic and far too old for Kirk (who normally chases 19 year olds....).

Well if this movie is a success, I am sure we will have plenty of opportunities to see Carol or Ruth in the sequels.
