Then why replicate the cheap 60's uniforms? Just to retain a connection to an obsolete TV show of 40 years ago?

Seriously. I'm open minded but cautious. I really think they COULD probably get a better textured Enterprise that looked closer to the Original exterior. I'm going to wait and see how the new ship carries on film and what if any reasoning The Powers That Be give after the fact for the changes.

If the reasoning I hear boils down to "Change because we wanted to", then yes it matters. Why? Because to me, I loved the Enterprise before I really came to know any of the other characters.

Remember they're hoping for a three picture deal here so even though I'm open minded here, how I leave the theater next May will go a long way to how I feel about STXII.

To turn the arguments around... The ship isn't going to be what ATTRACTS new fans is it?

It's not. People weren't staying away from Star Trek because of the original design of the Enterprise, and a new design isn't going to pull new people to it.

Very true. But it appears as if some are judging it that way. I suppose the theaters are banking on the few not liking ship design as a reason to not show up, as opposed to the having the many boycott due to ship design....

Yep. Like I said before, bad gamble. Only the die-hards give a damn what the ship looks like, and the die-hards are pissed off. They should've upgraded the texture and detail, and other than that left it the hell alone.

Which leads us back to the original topic......a blind person cannot see the Enterprise. So who cares what she looks like?

Exactly and for the next Spiderman movie, let's have MJ as a brunette.

That would be fine, as long as MJ is still MJ. Remember, the whole point of this is that you are explaining this to a blind person....what do they care if MJ has brown, blond, red, or green hair?

Can the Orion girls still be green?

But seriously though, explaining this movie to a blind person. If you could and if they got it then it'd be a damn bad movie. Any movie worth its salt should be something you just have to see yourself. If you could explain it to someone who has not seen it; blind or not; then the movie is a failure IMO. It's a visual medium, you must see it. Sure you can explain the basic plot and a person who hasn't seen it would get the plot but visual should be unexplainable, something you just must see.

Try explaining 2001 to someone who hasn't seen it. It's something you just have to see.
